'Jasper' is the given name of Jack Daniel, and 'Motlow' is the last name of his nephew Lem, who later inherited the distillery. Lynchburg, Tennessee, is the home of the Jack Daniel Distillery. Each font is named for an important aspect of the brand's history. According to Segura Inc., the famous 'black label' used on the Jack Daniel's bottle dates back to circa 1904 the firm was hired to develop its lettering on the label into full fonts for use on the Jack Daniel's website and other marketing purposes.
